Since 2005, the Around the Island Race has stood as Hong Kong’s premier 45km outrigger canoe challenge, attracting crews from across the region and around the world. Organised by the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club and endorsed by the Hong Kong Outrigger Canoe Racing Association, the race showcases endurance, teamwork, and ocean skill at the highest level.

Set against the dramatic coastline of Hong Kong Island, this iconic 45km sea race begins and ends at Middle Island, near Deep Water Bay. Starting from the waters off its southeastern shore, paddlers embark on a continuous course tracing the full perimeter of the island, navigating changing conditions before returning to finish in front of Middle Island beach.

Steeped in tradition and defined by performance, ATIR Outrigger Canoe is a true test of resilience—where every stroke connects athletes to the ocean, the city, and the enduring spirit of the race.
