AROUND THE ISLAND RACE 2022 - OUTRIGGER CANOE

Course Notes

This is a 45km sea change race. The course will start at Middle Island on the south side of the island, going clockwise around the island, through the Victoria Harbour and then along Shek O and Stanley before returning to Middle Island.
Due to heavy marine traffic and expected rough sea conditions at certain parts of the course, sea changes will be restricted at certain parts of the course.
There will be one dry change at Kellett Island, where paddlers will change while parked alongside a floating pontoon.

Race Rules and Safety
It is mandatory that entrants read, understand and comply with the Race Rules and Course Instruction documents so that they can understand the general rules governing all vessels competing in the Around the Island Race.
Please also note that all racing crews will be expected to provide their own safety equipment (e.g. pfds, first aid kit)

Support Boats
Every participating crew will require a motorised escort boat.
Please note that junk boats cannot be used for escort purposes. Any junk boats hired for spectators must remain out of the designated race course and keep well clear from all competitors and craft performing sea changes.
